La courbe de tes yeux data del 1924 (aunque no se publicó hasta 1926), y fue compuesto por Paul Élouard evocando su amor hacia Gala, a la que conoció en el Sanatorio de Clavadel (Suiza) dónde ambos estaban ingresados para recuperarse de la tuberculosis. Se casaron en 1917.
En 1924, Gala inició una relación amorosa con Max Ernst, tolerada por Élouard, que seguía enamorado de Gala. El poema es una exaltación de la persona amada, un acto de generosidad y de coherencia emocional que desafiaba las convenciones sociales. El marco histórico es el París del período de entreguerras, un espacio en el que todo cabía y todos cabían: cuando todo era posible. Especialmente, la celebración del amor y del arte, unidos en feliz coincidencia.
